Vacations & Holidays
Vacations at Polestar are full of spirit, community and fun! It feels great to relax, connect with friends and rejuvenate in such a spiritually supportive, beautiful and family-friendly environment.
Here’s just some of what you can experience while vacationing at Polestar:
Time for yoga, deep relaxation, and meditation in our lovely Polestar temple, available at all hours of the day or night for spiritual practice. Our schedule also includes guided hatha yoga, pranayama and meditation, a weekly kirtan, and longer meditations on the weekends. Our holiday traditions of the 8-hour Christmas meditation, caroling in the local hospital and veteran’s hall as well as a formal choir concert, a “Divine Mother” (anonymous) gift exchange and many other celebrations make this one of the highlights of our year.
Island explorations: snorkeling, the local warm pond, steam vents, dolphins, hikes to the lava, waterfalls and more await the adventurous. Cash in on the fun and join others in our optional group outings, or, rent a car from the local Budget rental and go on your own personal excursion into paradise.
Homegrown, organic meals are a shared, daily occurrence at Polestar. We have fruits and vegetables of every description growing in abundance and making their way onto our plates! If you enjoy cooking you are welcome to join us in preparing some meals in our kitchen and explore for yourself some of the culinary wonders of the tropics.
Life in spiritual community is often a flow of countless, serendipitous events. We have watched visitors from faraway lands meet here and form lifelong, deep friendships with each other. Our regular “check-in” meetings offer all of us a time to connect, take stock of who and where we are, and listen deeply to each other. We also take our “play” seriously with volleyball on Fridays, the occasional movie night (with homegrown popcorn!) and other spontaneous outings.
We sincerely hope you can join us this year. It’s going to be an incredible time.
You can design your own retreat/vacation. For all our programs, we encourage guests to participate in the daily life of the community to whatever extent they feel inspired.
We have ongoing meditation, yoga, kirtans, service projects, social events and recreational outings that you can participate in, depending on your interest. Many visitors find a deeply rejuvenating vacation through a balance of sight seeing and spiritual practice, service and relaxation.
We are situated on 20 beautiful acres about a 30 minute drive south of Hilo (on the Big Island) and a ten minute drive to the water. Accommodations include everything from tent camping, to single and double occupancy rooms, to private apartments. You will have full access to the spacious common room and kitchen, yoga temple, spiritual library, beautiful grounds, orchard and large garden. Our daily diet includes the many fresh vegetables and fruits grown organically here at Polestar Gardens.
