Sacred Music Festival – April 20-24, 2016

Unity

The festival is open to all lovers of kirtan, sacred music, bhakti, meditation, fun and spiritual community in Hawaii. It takes place at Polestar Gardens near the town of Pahoa on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Children and families are especially invited and included! Performances, workshops, campfire song circles, showcase concerts, sacred dance, meditation, and delicious Hawaii style organic local grown food.

Format: 5-day celebration
Pre-registration required: No (limited accommodations)
Accommodations: Tent, Tent Cabin, Shared and Private Rooms        Tickets: $15 (advance) $20 (at the door) per day for events, food available for sale or bring your own picnic food (no alcohol or drugs permitted).

Unity & the Band of Angels, Kirtan and Potluck

The Festival officially begins with an opening evening kirtan, a traditional potluck with the Polestar “Ohana” greater community and festival attendees. Dinner will be followed by a performance by Unity and the Band of Angels!

Mary Isis, Hope Medford, Hula & Workshops

Festival workshops include Hula, harmonium, ukulele, The Power of Sacred Music. Concert performances by headlining acts Mary Isis and Hope Medford featuring special guest performance by Maya Bando!

Fireside Kirtan Dance, Music & Yoga Workshops

Morning workshops include percussion & mantra yoga with music workshops following in the afternoon. Babette Ackin of Indian Classical Music Circle of Hawaii will lead a Raga Workshop with Doug Fox on Bansuri flute.

Maha Kirtan, Keiki Kirtan and Workshops

A great day for children and adults begins with a sacred motion workshop in the morning followed by a keiki kirtan with instruments, dance and asana – fun for all ages! In the afternoon, the Maha Kirtan commences with six continuous hours of soothing musical vibrations.

Please join us for this closing event at 31st and Paradise
Performers include: Combinations of Polestar Chanters,
Choir pieces and our Marimba Ensemble. Plus Unity, Tahitian Chants, Puna Men’s Choir, Bernice & Mahesh Albert Bicknell, Ron Harris, Dennis & Sanki Alstrand, Jean Pierre Thoma Flute Duets.

 

Directions-Sacred Music Festival at Polestar Gardens

7 Noni Farm Rd.
Pahoa, HI 96778

  • Approximately 40 minutes from the Hilo Airport
  • Follow the exit signs from Hilo airport until you reach the first stop light. Turn Left onto Kanoelehua Ave/Hawaii Belt Rd/HI-11 S and go about 6.5 miles
  • Turn Left onto Keaau Pahoa Bypass Rd/HI-130 S. Continue to follow HI-130 S for 12.2 miles
  • Please Note: Due to construction in Pahoa right now there are two stoplights in Pahoa. Turn left at the first then get back on HI-130 S. Turn left at the next stoplight onto Pahoa/Kapoho Rd./HI-132. Go 4.5 miles
  • Turn left on Noni Farm Rd. (a gravel road with a yellow wooden sign on the left — if you reach mile marker 5, you’ve gone too far)
  • Follow Noni Farm Rd. four tenths of a mile and turn right onto our driveway – you can pull up to the house and park
